FAQ

Short answers to the questions people ask most.

Basics

What is Tingle?

A place to say what you've noticed and find out whether other people have noticed it too. For websites there's Downdetector. For everything else, there's Tingle.

What counts as something to Tingle?

Anything you've actually noticed: a product gone from every shop, an app misbehaving, a smell on your street, a trend you keep seeing. Small things are the point.

Do I need an account?

Not to search, read, press Me too, or start a Tingle. You need one to comment, follow, or put your name on a Tingle you started.

The number

What does the number mean?

How many people pressed Me too or started that Tingle. Nothing else counts towards it, not views, not comments, not shares.

Is pressing Me too anonymous?

Yes. We record that a device pressed it once, and the country it was in, so the count and the map stay honest. Nobody can see what you've pressed Me too on, including other users.

What does Tingling mean?

It's our Trending. A Tingle that got a lot of Me toos in the last hour. It's about speed, not size.

What does "First noticed" mean?

The moment the first person told Tingle about it.

Does Tingle mean it's true?

No. Tingle shows what people say they're noticing. That's different from proof. Read the comments, look at where it's coming from, and decide for yourself.

Your Tingles

How does Tingle know two people noticed the same thing?

When you type something, we compare its meaning, not its exact words, against Tingles that are already active. "My phone is really hot" and "iPhones overheating today" find each other. If there's a close match, we show it to you before you create a new one. Different cities stay separate; a smell in Barcelona and a smell in Paris are two Tingles.

What if my thing already exists?

Press Me too on it. That's the whole idea. If yours is really something different, start a new one.

Can I edit or delete a Tingle I started?

You can fix a typo in the first 15 minutes, before anyone else has pressed Me too. You can delete it while fewer than 5 people have noticed it. After that it belongs to everyone who confirmed it, and you can remove your name from it instead.

Your account

How do I report something?

Every comment has a menu with Report. Every Tingle page has one too. A person looks at every report.

How do I delete my account or download my data?

Both are in Settings. Download gives you everything you've done on Tingle as a file. Delete removes your account, your comments become "[deleted]", and any Tingles you started stay but without your name.

Who made this?

Axel Katalan, in Barcelona. There's more on the About page.
